He originally tried out for Michael, but the producers described the performance attempt as "a terrible Ricky Gervais impersonation". When he later went for the role of Dwight, Rainn easily got the part!

Born in Seattle, Washington, Wilson grew up around the Baha'i Faith with his family. After attending both Tufts University and the University of Washington, Wilson moved to New York to study acting. There, he preformed in many on and off Broadway performances, landing him into many other notable appearances. After many years of TV and Films, Wilson finally landed in huge roles such as Arthur in Six Feet Under and Dwight in The Office. Wilson currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife Holiday and his son, Walter McKenzie Wilson
